INFINZ picks Devon, AMP in funds management finals

Paul Glass: head of Devon Funds Management

Devon Funds Management and AMP Capital have come out winners in the latest INFINZ Awards.

Headed by Paul Glass, Devon was named equities fund manager of the year while AMP topped the bond manager category in the INFINZ Awards announced last Thursday.

According to INFINZ, the fund manager awards are decided “through an initial quantitative analysis of past performance undertaken by Melville Jessup Weaver (MJW) and then shortlisted managers will be interviewed with respect to qualitative criteria”.

“In a departure for 2015, the short-listed managers will be asked to prepare a submission on the qualitative criteria for consideration by an expert panel of judges with three directors joining MJW for the interviews,” INFINZ says in its award background document.

“Eligible funds must have been in place for at least the three previous calendar years and be open to the public for investment,” INFINZ says. “The Equities are Australasian equities – and Bonds, New Zealand bonds. Only NZ based fund managers are eligible.”

Simon Allen, David May, Mark Weaver and James Ogden were the fund award judges.

Meanwhile, First NZ Capital was named sharebroking firm of the year and Stephen Ridgewell of Craigs Investment Partners won the INFINZ research analyst category.
