Well-known NZ financial services identity, Patrick Middleton, died last week after a short illness.
Middleton served as chief of the property investment business, Conrad Funds Management, for the last eight years but he previously headed several marquee NZ financial businesses including the pioneering advisory firm, Spicers.
After a stint at Spicers, Middleton took the helm at the Westpac NZ wealth management arm before landing a role as chief operating officer for the-then George Kerr-owned Perpetual group in 2009.
He rose to lead Perpetual in 2011 until 2013 during a period where the company was devolved into a corporate trust business with the personal trust and advice/asset management arms sold off.
Following a two-year period consulting to rural businesses, Middleton joined Conrad early in 2016 – firstly in an advisory role but promoted to CEO in May of that year, a job he held until his death last Monday.
“A funeral service for Patrick will be held at Christ’s College Chapel, Rolleston Avenue, Christchurch, on Wednesday, June 26, at 2.00pm, followed by a private cremation,” the official obituary notes.
Middleton was 59.
