Financial Services Council (FSC) chief, Richard Klipin, formally ends his seven-year stint heading the industry body this week with a short break between his next gig in Australia.
Klipin takes over as CEO of the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) in Australia on May 27.
He joined the FSC as chief in 2016 at a low point for the financial services organisation, which has grown from 29 members to 119 under his watch that included mergers with three other industry bodies.
Prior to the FSC, Klipin led the Association of Financial Advisers – an industry group focused largely on the life insurance advice sector.
In a release this March, the fire and general insurer body, NIBA, said Klipin won the role on the back of his “extensive experience in professional associations and a strong history of relationships with the Government and key regulators being influential in the decision to engage him as our CEO”.
Last week the FSC named its head of member services, Haydee Stroud, as interim chief.
Meanwhile, Financial Advice NZ has hired Cecilia Farrow in the newly established job as head of professional development.
Farrow, who founded life insurance advisory firm Triplejump in 2007, is the “first strategic hire” by new Financial Advice NZ chief, Nick Hakes, according to a release.
Hakes replaced Katrina Shanks as head of the NZ advice sector group earlier this year following a long career in Australia, most recently as marketing development director Asia for the ASX-listed professional education firm, Kaplan.
The ex ex-pat Kiwi also held several roles in the AFA during Klipin’s tenure as chief.
“Financial advisers are now looking towards the future, towards a thriving advice industry where more consumers actively seek out quality financial advice to help them achieve their financial goals,” Hake said in a statement. “I look forward to Cecilia’s strong contribution to Financial Advice New Zealand’s growth strategy.”
