Research IP has slated its 2021 NZ fund manager of the year awards for December 2, shifting the event online once more due to ongoing pandemic conditions.
Darren Howlin, Research IP managing director, said the digital-only awards come at the end of a “fascinating year” where “the tone of central banks and economies is changing to one of living with a COVID world”.
Howlin said despite the disruption, Research IP would reprise its full roster of about 20 awards with a stronger emphasis this year on responsible investing.
He said the Australia-based researcher would publish a responsible investing paper next week “to assist the industry but also raise some important questions to consider” about the increasingly complex trend.
As well as the Research IP-determined awards, the ‘Adviser Choice’ category returns again this year offering advisers the ability to select manager favourites across four sectors.
“The Adviser Choice initiative is growing year to year and brings together a strong recognition of the investment management industry,” Howlin said. “We plan to announce the finalists on 26 November and the winners online at 3pm on Thursday 2 December.”
Further information about the Adviser Choice awards is available here.
Research IP launched the NZ awards in 2019 after providing the technical support for the-then NZX-owned FundSource version for several years previously. FundSource is now owned by another Australian firm, Zenith Investment Partners.
As well as Howlin, Research IP includes Oliver Trusler in Australia and the NZ-based Andy Mahony as senior staff.
