NZ Super veteran confirmed as Mercer CIO

March 5, 2026

Del Hart: Mercer NZ CIO

Mercer NZ has named Del Hart as chief investment officer (CIO) to replace Padraig Brown.

Hart was most recently head of external investments and partnerships at the NZ Superannuation Fund (NZS), where she held various senior roles since first joining in 2010.

She left NZS last August amid a shake-up in the sovereign wealth fund that saw over a dozen staff exit.

Brown moved to NZX-listed Precinct Properties last month as director capital partnerships origination.

Kylie Willment, Mercer Pacific CIO, who stepped in for Brown in an interim capacity last month, said in a release that Hart “brings in constructing and managing global portfolios, and her deep knowledge across public and private markets, will support our institutional clients, as well as our KiwiSaver members, to achieve their investment goals”.

Mercer NZ manages more than $11 billion of retail money, according to Plan for Life, including over $2 billion in its KiwiSaver scheme.

In a LinkedIn post, Brown said the NZ group assets under management grew to $16 billion plus during his almost four-year stint as CIO.
